The Future Home of Stony Point Ambulance Corps

02/16/2012

It’s progressing nicely, and we are so excited…

If you’ve driven down Route 9W lately, you’ve seen great progress on our new headquarters.

What this means for US – ALL of the residents of Stony Point – is an ambulance corps that will be able to continue to meet the needs of our growing town.

Our present building on Lee Avenue, behind the Rose Memorial Library, has served us well since 1946 when it was just one small bay. Along the line a larger 2-rig bay was built on and eventually the small bay was no longer use-able in size for any of our rigs. For the past several months we have had to park 2 of our trucks outside, even in the cold weather.

Our new building will feature four bays, two meeting rooms, a crew room, crew sleeping quarters and offices. We also have plans for living space for a few ambulance corps members who will help ensure prompt and reliable EMS response when a resident calls for help.

The meeting rooms will allow us to offer more outreach programs for our community such as CPR, First Aid classes and more. Our current crowded building did not always allow the space to provide this while conducting normal operations. Of course we plan to continue the highly successful annual Haunted House event, too, and other great events.

Many of our members are residents of Stony Point as well and take personal pride in what this new facility means to our town. All of our members care deeply about our North Rockland community.

We would love for you to be a part of this exciting time and join our volunteers. We need members who will ride our trucks and respond to medical emergencies – all training will be provided. We also have an active and vital (non-riding) Auxiliary that supports our operations; this co-ed group serves on committees, assists with fundraising, helps with clerical work, and offers manpower for many events and activities. Our Youth Squad is filled with enthusiastic 14 to 18 year old teens, several of whom have trained to ride our trucks and respond as part of an emergency crew; our “kids” learn and participate in drills and have numerous trophies and awards to show. All adult members must be at least 18.

We would love for you to join us - just click here to download and print a member application. (it’s in .pdf format)

*You do NOT have to be a resident of Stony Point to join – but we  encourage you to contact your local ambulance corps as well.

The Stony Point Ambulance Corps is a 501(C)3 non-profit
serving the Stony Point community and environs.

Annual Polar Plunge on
Super Bowl Sunday to Benefit

from the Rockland County Times

Every winter around Super Bowl Sunday, hundreds of people flock to the Hudson River to watch a bunch of eager volunteers run into the freezing cold water.
